Re: Grand Jury report on sexual abuse against children by members of the clergy

The reports of sexual abuse against children by members of the clergy in the Pennsylvania Catholic Church — and the actions undertaken to cover up those inexcusable crimes by that organization — are deplorable.

The survivors of this abuse deserve justice. The perpetrators of these crimes and those who covered them up must be held accountable.

That can’t happen unless Pennsylvania changes their statute of limitations pertaining to child sexual abuse, and provides for the changes to be retroactive.

Right now, you have before you a bill that would lift these statutes and help bring those responsible for such long standing, far-reaching abuses of children to justice.

I implore you to immediately pass this bill with the provision it apply retroactively.
