On this day in 2011, serial child rapist Dr. Earl Bradley was finally brought to justice and sentenced to fourteen consecutive life sentences, along with an additional one hundred sixty-five years in prison. This landmark conviction marked a turning point in the fight against child abuse, and it was the catalyst for the visionary plan conceived by Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden: educate adults and children, develop the next generation of child welfare professionals, and strengthen child protection laws around the country. This plan laid the foundation for the establishment of the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children after Beau Biden’s tragic death on May 30, 2015.
Today, twelve years later, we stand on the eve of our inaugural National Conference to Protect America’s Children. Tomorrow, child protection experts from across the country will join hundreds of dedicated child-serving professionals working on the front lines of protecting children. Our conference will encompass a wide range of crucial topics including child sexual abuse, corporal punishment, child sex trafficking, and Internet safety, just to name a few. Through this event, we aim to empower and educate these child welfare professionals, equipping them with the necessary tools to support survivors in their healing journey, promote healthy relationships, and nurture resiliency. Additionally, we will collaborate with lawmakers to advocate for stronger victims’ rights, trauma-informed care for victims, and the establishment of multidisciplinary teams focused on child protection.
In Beau’s honor we commit to sharing his mission and working to end child abuse. Regardless of whether or not you are able to join us at this conference, you can play a significant role in this important mission. There is still time to contribute to the effort to provide the best training to front-line child protection We have provided over 100 scholarships at $1030 per participant to local and national organizations. We are asking for 100 of our supporters to contribute $100 to allow us to continue Beau Biden’s mission. We are grateful for your continued support and commitment.
